Sorry Twi-hards, there’s absolutely no vampire in “Water for Elephants.” But good news for the rest of the population: the screen adaptation of Sara Gruen’s best-selling historical novel, though unable to live up to its full potential, is an elegant and enjoyable romantic period piece with interesting circus life insights, and will easily appeal to (adult) female demographics.
