(UK) At the beginning of this year, Variety named J Blakeson one of the “ten directors to watch in 2010” among Tom Ford (“A Single Man”), Floria Sigismondi (“The Runaways”) and Scott Cooper (“Crazy Heart”). And 10 months later, as many of the listed names have wowed the audience with their impressive works, we finally find out why Blakeson made the list in his directorial debut, “The Disappearance of Alice Creed,” an excellently conceived and briskly executed indie hostage thriller with a nasty streak.
