(USA) Two hours of Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) traipsing around New York City and Abu Dhabi moaning about how her marriage needs more sparkle all the while sucking her three loyal sidekicks into a tizzy with her as they work through the 3Ms of marriage, motherhood and menopause. That basically sums up this snoozer of a sequel.
(USA) Roman Polanski’s latest film is a well-crafted thriller that trusts the audience enough not to rely on unnecessary twists or pyrotechnics to maintain its momentum. Rather than talk tough and act rough, the protagonist spends a good portion of the film poring over documents and making polite house calls—which sounds like a snooze, but in Polanski’s hands, even a mild-mannered writer seems a little like James Bond.
Category 3. Yes, I’m giving “SATC” five fabulous stars. Why? Because I genuinely enjoyed revisiting the leading ladies four years on and watching them banter about sex, fashion, love and life all over again. How I loved watching vivaciously neurotic writer Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), sexual predator and PR Samantha (Kim Cattrall), sharp-talking cynic and lawyer Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and effervescent WASP wife and mother Charlotte (Kristin Davis).
