A remake of the 1960s Italian “spaghetti Western” Django, this movie is acclaimed Japanese director Takashi Miike’s (Ichi the Killer, Children of Lost Souls) very distinctive take on the genre. The end result is a surreal and slightly confused alternative: one part cowboy flick, one part samurai movie, one part comic book with side orders of slapstick and mysticism thrown in for good measure.
