Each year, the Design for Asia (DFA) Student Award reaches out to young untapped talent to find and recognize the most creative and innovative creative design students throughout the Asia region.

Last week at Shore, the Ultimate Steak Challenge between celebrity chefs Harlan Goldstein and Jason Black came to a very climactic finish when our marketing manager-slash-rockin’ MC James Gannaban announced the results of the night: Harlan Goldstein had beaten the home team, making him the inaugural winner of this very friendly—but very intense—cook-off that involved not one, but TWO five-course dinners back-to-back.
Originally started as Band Alert in 1998 by Yamaha, Asian Beat has provided a platform for amateur bands in Asia to perform and show off their talents for the past 15 years. Each year, Beat Contest is held in each participating country and region to select the qualifying bands, and each finalist can then proceed to the Grand Final, where the finalists will perform once again to compete to be the top amateur band in Asia.
Tom Lee Music is accepting entries to the annual Asian Beat band competition until July 31.
Talk of the Town…
Walt’s Café will be offering a special four-course menu for HKD$298 from now until March 26, in celebration of a third place win at the annual MLA (Meat and Livestock Australia) Black Box Culinary Challenge.
Participating teams at this international competition—held in February in Hong Kong—were given a “black box” of raw ingredients and an hour to prepare a four-course meal with it.
