Eating out is something of a national pastime in Hong Kong, and with our poky kitchens and cheap, tasty food available just about anywhere, who can blame us? But all that salt and fat isn’t much good for our waistlines, which is why we’ve listed everything you need to rustle up some effortless and tasty dishes at home. And when you’re done shopping, we’ve included some simple recipes to try at home. Tasty!
Drop the takeout menu and grab a spatula. It’s time to get serious in the kitchen.

Sick of your bog-standard, mall-bound, sterile retail experience? Check out some of the city’s freshest shopping destinations. Go downtown with Johannes Pong and his canvas bags.
Haven’t they got enough malls already over in Tsim Sha Tsui? This is not a property column but we just want to bring your attention to The ONE, the sparkling new shopping mall complex on Nathan Road. New restaurants and bars are popping up there already—Harlan’s has closed their space in IFC mall, crossed the harbor to move onto the 19th floor at The ONE, which is now open, as has a bar called Cocky a floor below (we are already sneering at the name). Also just opened is a new sushi place called Kushi One (pictured) on the fifth floor.

27. Beekeeper.
Wears a Reiss shirt, Benetton trousers, Shofolk shoes and mismatched fake Ralph Lauren socks which he proudly emphasizes. He accessorizes with his grandma’s necklace, a self-made ring and another one from India. He also gives us a peek of his yellow boxers in spirit of his beekeeping exhibition.

“The term ‘Post-80s’ (‘baat sap hau’ in Cantonese) has recently became mainstream and used as a popular noun in the local media. In the digital age, almost every post-80s kid owns a camera, and taking portraits is no longer only reserved for special occasions, nor is it the privilege of a professional photographer”— or so says Mary Lee, a post-80s art librarian.
