As a part of the Hong Kong Design Year 2012 program, Hong Kong Photo Book Awards (HKPBA) is calling photographers to compile a photo book that conveys a concept, shares memories, and presents ideas.

This year, the theme for the HKPBA program is “I Love Hong Kong,” and photographers are encouraged to be inspired by the surrounding environment of the city and its people, as well as its natural settings or a mix of all of these.

The winning submission of the “champion” award will receive a publishing sponsorship up to $100,000, Canon EOS 5D Mark III with EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens Kit Set, and Tamron A16 SP 17-50mm F2.8 XR Di II LD ASPH (IF).

The deadline for submission is September 30, and HK Art School, Hong Kong Baptist University Academy of Visual Art, and Metrobooks will be holding photography workshops from June until September. The entry will have two divisions: Open Division for the public, and Student Division for full-time and part-time students. After the finalists have been selected in October, the submissions will go through public display and voting before awards are presented on November 9.

Visit the HKPBA webpage for more information.
