The buzz: French shoemaker Repetto takes up residence in Pacific Place after more than 60 years of dexterous craftsmanship and soft, comfortable footwear. A pair of their simple signature ballet flats’ll make a big fashion statement, considering that Kate Moss and Sarah Jessica Parker are amongst their loyal clientele.
The goods: Their limited edition pink and black are catching most fashionistas’ eyes—the inner soles are engraved with a “Hong Kong Boutique” limited edition mark and unique numbering, for those of you persnickety enough to care about that sort of thing. Repetto’s shoes are made using the “stitch and return” method—some complicated process that involves turning the shoe inside out before stitching it together. But it results in a really comfy shoe, which is all we regular laypeople need to know.
The décor: Inspired by the flagship boutique in Paris, the 700 square foot boutique is embellished with satin wine-red drapery and crystal chandeliers. (Nobody said you can’t go flats shopping in style.) Repetto’s latest collection takes center stage, lined up in an orderly and colorful fashion. The window design also glitzes up the space further, with ballet costumes that look as though they’ve been pulled straight outta “The Nutcracker.”
