The buzz: Holding multiple international prizes for his chocolates and pastries, including “Best Macaron in Paris” and “Best Hot Chocolate in Paris,” Jean-Paul Hévin opens his third chocolate shop in Hong Kong—a streetside “Boutique et Bar à Chocolat” smack in the middle of the city on Lyndhurst Terrace.
The décor: Modeled after his flagship store on Rue Saint-Honoré, the chocolate boutique consists of a counter on the ground floor, where you can peruse the confections to your heart’s content, as well as a bright and cozy chocolate bar upstairs. Everything about the bar’s simple design, from its elegant wooden décor to its warm, earthy color palette with gold accents, serves to highlight Hévin’s “black pearls” (what he calls his chocolates).
The goods: Head to Jean-Paul Hévin to sate your sweet tooth—you’ll find everything from ganaches to macarons to cakes here. Try their signature coffret box, which is exclusive to the Lyndhurst Terrace store and includes five tasting tablettes from Venezuela, Madagascar, Peru and Colombia, or enjoy a cup of hot chocolate the Parisian way—accompanied with a croissant or piece of cake.
