The buzz: Hidden two floors above Hollywood Road lies this unique drinking loft, specifically designed for whisky-lovers.
The décor: Raw finish concrete walls and exposed brick give the bar an underground cellar feel, while the plush leather couches and soft furnishings are cosy and easy on the eye, especially after a sip too many of a fine scotch.
The drinks: Whisky, whisky, whisky. From Scotland, Ireland, America and Japan (and everywhere in-between), there is enough aged golden liquid here to suit even the most discerning of single malt drinkers. Of course, there is also a notable range of other liquors, wines, international beers and delicious cocktails for those who aren’t as keen on the amber stuff as some.
The food: A truly decadent menu, complementary of the bar’s atmosphere, offers a range of small plates, main meals and cheese and ham platters. Try the baked potato skins with minced beef, and tomato and mozzarella to soak up your late night boozing (the kitchen serves snacks until 1am).
Why you’ll be back: For a taste of the 49.8 percent proof, 180L single cask of 20-year-old Macallan ($180), and the Japanese-style orbs of ice served with the more exceptional whiskeys, which melts slower and leaves the golden drink less diluted.
