The buzz: Central’s newest watering hole offers a much-needed reprieve from the wine bar-and-lounge-dominated Wyndham strip. This sports-themed bar offers live coverage of everything from the English Premiership to Formula 1, a major boon to all football fans, race heads and golf fanatics who frequent Hollywood Road.

The décor: Your typical sports bar setup: dark wood and deep green with mahogany paneling and hardwood floors. Signed jerseys and other sports gewgaws line the walls. But of course, no sports bar would be worth its peanuts if it didn’t have the screens – The Wheel has six big plasmas in just the right places so you won’t miss a second of the action from wherever you’re seated.

The drinks:
Lots of beer – up to three different brews on tap, and as many as 12 bottled varieties. The Wheel also sports some decent wines, and a generous selection of single-malt whiskeys.

The crowd: Sports fans, of course. The occasional tourist or neighborhood straggler certainly isn’t uncommon, and the tasty pub grub is starting to attract a large number of corporate-types during lunch hour.

Why you’ll come back: Spend an evening here, and you’ll soon come to appreciate that all-important distinction between a sports bar and “a bar that plays sports”. From the seating, to the ambiance, to the three-way sound system that allows multiple games to be broadcasted simultaneously, this place has been setup with the avid spectator in mind.
