Café One is an ideal hideout when you're working overtime. It's open late (24 hours on the weekends), and the food quality never suffers for it. The place is done up in timber flooring and wood-veneered tables with printed squares, and its contemporary Asian flair makes it a no-frills yet stylish hangout. Plus the deep leather chairs are pretty comfortable. The cafe is walled with glass and the designer cleverly placed the grand, multi-tiered dessert counters right at the entrance to draw the attention of passersby. Their international menu features such dishes as Indian curry, Chinese congees and Western steak. We particularly enjoyed the thick Italian minestrone soup with penne pasta, which came with a toasted, buttered baguette. Their curry chicken is somewhat westernized and tastes milder and sweeter than authentic ones. As for drinks, try the refreshing pina colada, which is only a tad sweet, and thankfully without the milkshake-like consistency. There are four LCDs installed in different corners broadcasting different games (which can get confusing), so instead of watching the NBA finals chowing down on beer and peanuts, maybe put a little bit of class into it with some fine wine and cheese at Cafe One. Dinner buffet, 6:30pm -9:30pm.

Best bit: Decent cafe fare in the early morning hours.
