Another standard Korean restaurant, with bold Korean latticework screen doors and celadon vases and dolls in hanbok lolling by the windowsills. But this place has a small and focused menu, which is mostly marinated meats for grilling and giant spicy seafood hotpots for sharing. They're the usual common Korean dishes, but the more than hearty portions make this place a hit with the youth—dishes like the chicken noodle soup, with a whole chicken, are easily shared among four people. Every bite packed quite a lot of flavor, from the braised beef ribs and the yukhwe (Korean steak tartar), which was saccharine sweet, to the pungent panchan (side dishes), forceful from the liberal use of fish sauce. So if you like your Korean food with high levels of sugar and sodium, this is the place for you. The waitress asked us which panchan were our faves, and offered to give us extra complimentary side dishes, which was a nice, generous touch. Stingy Korean establishments penny-pinching with their panchan don’t sit well with us, and this is a decent eatery for no-frills generic Korean, although our perennial favourite, Go Koong, is just right across the road.
