    Open Door - Harlan's

We’re pleased to officially announce that the move across the harbor has done nothing to diminish the style or quality of this long-time IFC establishment, and in fact, the alfresco dining terrace overlooking Victoria Harbor and the skyline actually adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the overall effect. We started off on the terrace, despite the insistence of the waitress that it was about to rain. The view was beautiful, despite the thick layers of fog we unluckily encountered, but as the first droplets of rain began falling on our heads we headed indoors to the luxurious indoor dining area, with candlelit tables and warm wooden floors. We ordered their signature dishes, with the crab platter to start, followed by the slow-cooked Wagyu beef cheek and they were simply divine. The crab platter included the Dungness crab cake, perfectly textured and flavorful, avocado crab salad and crispy soft shell crab. The beef cheek came out topped with one large ravioli stuffed with more beef cheek and accompanied by paper thin vegetables resting on a bed of mashed potato. The meat was tender, succulent beyond your wildest dreams, juicier than the juiciest of… you get the idea. But no, it’s not over yet. We ordered their signature “Valrhona” warm chocolate cake with passion mouse and rum raisin ice-cream that cut through like butter, oozing out miraculous waves of warm chocolate—heaven. Yeah, guess you could say we loved this place.
