An old-fashioned, homey hideaway where you can order food in a hurry or relax over an espresso or two.

From the extensive menu, we ordered vegetable soup, which was thick, large and satisfying. Opting for a light meal, we ordered appetizers of fresh mozzarella with tomatoes and Italian parma ham with melon. A warning to light eaters: These dishes are meals in and of themselves. The mozzarella came on a large-sized dinner plate, though some of the tomatoes were less than ripe. And don’t expect one chintzy piece of melon. Expect three big hunks with heaps of ham.

Without even having to ask, this also comes with a plain breadbasket and a pizza breadbasket. After several visits and no disappointments, this one definitely ranks as one of the city’s most dependable venues - and easy on the wallet.
