Located where short-lived pan-Asian eatery Se Sa Me used to stand, The Salted Pig’s offerings are sure to please pork lovers everywhere. What’s more, the dishes are all generously portioned, making it an ideal place for a meal to share.
We started things off with a charcuterie platter, which involved a mouthwatering assortment of cold cuts, as well as pork terrine and rillettes, pickles and Scotch eggs. Truthfully, the dish was hard to fault, as the meats were all perfectly seasoned and not too salty, with the Scotch eggs being particularly outstanding.
The “porker feast” main course for two jumped right out at us; we went with pork tenderloin stuffed with dried plums, pine nuts, sage, sausage and walnuts. Garnished with roasted onions and vegetables, the pork itself was soft and tender, although perhaps a little bit on the dry side; the accompanying creamy mustard sauce served to boost its flavor without being overpowering.
Too full for a dessert each, we decided on a banana and fudge Eton mess for us to share. The famed English sweet treat—a classic recipe usually featuring strawberries—worked surprisingly well with bananas. The creamy, fudgy dessert was smooth and rich—and dripping with chocolate (so nothing to complain about there).
The service was attentive without being overbearing, with the wait staff checking on us every now and then but leaving us to enjoy the splendid spread. All in all, a place definitely worth visiting again.
