Lily and Bloom have Opened at Hotel LKF

By Winnie Yeung | published Aug 12, 2010

Heaps of new openings, folks. The Volar gang has just opened Lily and Bloom at Hotel LKF on Wyndham. I went to check it out last weekend and was completely blown away. I was originally told this is a casual chic New York-style bar and restaurant (there seems to be a lot of those these days) but instead, what I found is one of the most intricately designed venues I’ve seen in Hong Kong. The space of Lily (the bar on 6/F) and Bloom (the restaurant on 5/F) is designed to invoke New York markets and Parisian salons from the turn of the last century. So what you see are lots of vintage-looking leather couches, mirrors and lamps, old wood planks lining the walls, and very dramatic corners throughout the space. For example, The Blind Pig (another name for a speakeasy) is its private cigar and whiskey room decorated with cute little pigheads with eye patches (bad-ass pirate pig!). The food is equally impressive (the bone marrow appetizer and the apple and cranberry crumble with cinnamon ice-cream are an absolute guilty pleasure, while the game hen with baba ganoush is divine) and so are the deliciously moreish drinks. Prices are very competitive too, with most mains costing less than $200. Already, other chefs in Central have been spotted hanging out there late at night—it serves food till 3am. As Anthony Bourdain once said, find a place where chefs eat after their shifts finish, and it’s likely to be a hidden gem. Well, there you go. 5-6/F, Hotel LKF, 55 D’Aguilar St., Central, 2810-6166.
